Swimming
At Carleton House Preparatory School, we believe that swimming is a vital life skill, which is why all pupils in our Key Stage Two classes are given the opportunity to develop their swimming ability and confidence in the water.
Each week, our children travel by coach to the Volair Leisure Centre in Halewood, where they receive expert instruction from qualified swimming teachers or take part in a PE lesson taught by our specialist PE teacher.
Our swimming programme runs on a half-termly rotation, ensuring that children develop a broad range of physical skills. For one half of each term, children focus on swimming, improving their water confidence, stroke technique, and overall swimming ability in the centre's pool.
During the alternate half term, they take part in PE lessons, led by our specialist PE teacher, in the large sports hall at school. This balanced approach allows our pupils to benefit from a comprehensive physical education curriculum, combining both swimming and traditional PE activities.
We also encourage our pupils to showcase their skills by participating in local swimming galas, competing against other schools in the area. This provides valuable opportunities for teamwork, sportsmanship, and competitive experience.
