Charities and Fundraising
As a Catholic school we seek to support a wide range of local and global charities.
Charities are chosen based upon links within our school community and to the wider Catholic Church. This supports both our Carleton Charter and the inherent linked Catholic Social Teaching that flow through it. Our children are active fundraisers and our parents are both generous and supportive of the fundraising we aim to achieve.
Liverpool Archdiocese Ukrainian Appeal?
We held a yellow and blue day to show support for and to raise money for those affected by the conflict in the Ukraine. We raised an amazing £1,111.75.
South Liverpool Foodbank?
Throughout the year we hold collections for South Liverpool Foodbank, which our families support and generously donate towards.
Bridge 2 Liverpool Charity
As a school we donated 20% of all our PTA fundraising from across the year to this worthwhile charity.
Last year our nominated school charity was Bridge 2, a local charity focused on serving the asylum seeker, refugee and local community throught the central Liverpool area. We were delighted to present a cheque for £411.00 to Olivia and Rebecca from the Charity.
Children in Need
Every year our children are invited to dress up for Children in Need day and are asked to make a donation. This year we raised a fantastic £492.62
CAFOD
This year we raised an amazing £455.40 for Cafod through parental donations following our Christmas collective worships. We shared with our children in Collective worship the amazing work that Cafod do to support our global neighbours and looked at ways at which our donation might be used.
Christmas Toy Hampers
Every year we work closely with South Liverpool foodbank volunteer Cate Byrne to make Christmas toy hampers for children less fortunate than our own. Each class is given the age and gender of a child and gifts are donated and made up into a toy hamper which is delivered on Christmas Eve to families
The Whitechapel Centre Homeless Appeal
Each Christmas in Carleton House, Mrs Griffies leads a charity collection for the Whitechapel Centre, a local charity supporting the homeless in Liverpool. We collect donations from our families including food, toiletries, underwear and chocolates. This year we filled our minibus with donations.
Walk to school week.
As part of our Live Simply Award our Y6 children organised a walk to school week. Our children were encouraged to walk to school and to make a donation towards our CAFOD appeal. Together we raised a fantastic £140.44 for CAFOD.
Turkey and Syria Disaster Appeal
Our fabulous PTA held a cake sale after school to raise money for the disaster appeal for Turkey and Syria following the devasting earthquake. We raised an impressive £186.96.
Comic Relief
Our boy and girls came to school today in Red Accessories to raise money for Comic Relief. We raised a fantastic £254.60
Jeans for Genes day
‘Genes for Jeans’ is a charity close to our hearts at Carleton House as members of our school community have been impacted by genetic conditions. Each year on Jeans for Genes day we raise both awareness and funds for this important charity. This year we raised £342 for this important charity.
KIND
Our school chosen charity for 2022-23 was Liverpool Children's charity KIND. We were delighted to share a cheque for £4,225 with Stephen Yip, founder at our annual prize night this July.
Christmas Appeal supporting local Liverpool Schools
For the past few years we have supported 2 local Liverpool schools by donating toys at Christmas.
We shared Amazon gift lists with our parents who generously bought gifts which were then delivered to local schools who distributed them to families in need.
We donated gift cards and gifts to a local secondary school and our staff donated pyjamas to children less fortunate.
