Carleton Charter
The Carleton Charter is a cornerstone of our ethos, reflecting our commitment to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching. It embodies our dedication to fostering a just and compassionate community, promoting the dignity of every individual, and encouraging service to others. The Charter guides our actions and interactions, ensuring that our values are lived out in practical and meaningful ways, in line with the teachings of the Church.
Mission Review Day
During our most recent Mission Review Day, we focused on our role as a faith-driven community, guided by our mission statement, “We live, love and learn with Jesus.” The day began with reflection on John’s Gospel, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” We recognised that our mission statement reflects Gospel Values such as faithfulness, tolerance, and service—values that permeate our ethos and daily practices.
The day included inspiring examples of faith in action, such as the story of Pope John Paul II’s visit to the man who attempted to harm him. This example, among others, reinforced our commitment to living out our values in practical ways.
A key aspect of our Catholic Life is ongoing self-evaluation. Staff and governors engaged in discussions to assess our strengths and areas for development, particularly in how we support individuals from diverse faiths and belief traditions. This reflection helps us align with the Catholic Self-Evaluation Document and continually enhance our practices.
We are proud to have successfully achieved the CAFOD Live Simply Award for Schools. This prestigious award recognises our commitment to living simply, acting in solidarity, and making sustainable choices in our local and global communities. It highlights our efforts to reflect on our lifestyle and embrace practices that support environmental stewardship and social justice. Our staff and pupils have wholeheartedly embraced this initiative, making a positive impact through their dedication to simplicity and sustainability.
The Mission Review Day was a productive and uplifting experience, reaffirming our collective dedication to Carleton House’s mission, the Carleton Charter, and our commitment to Catholic values.
