Michelle Christian

Governor

My son joined Carleton House in September 2014 and, as a new parent to the school, I am committed to taking an active part in school life. I hope I can utilize my skills to support Carleton House to continue to deliver all round excellence.

As Operations Director for Adecco, the world’s largest recruitment services provider, I am responsible for day to day strategic delivery in the North West and Ireland. My areas of expertise cover human resources, recruitment, financial planning and project management. I am also a Trustee of the Company Pension Scheme and a graduate of The University of Manchester.

I am married to Michael Smith, a Commercial Bank Manager and we are local to South Liverpool.

Finance & Buildings Governor

I grew up in Culcheth, Cheshire and moved to Liverpool after studying accounting and management control at university.  In my professional life I am a qualified accountant and I am employed as the Group Director of Finance at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA).  Before joining LIPA I spent 13 years at two different global accountancy firms, RSM and BDO respectively.  At a personal level I have two children at the school (with an older one at University) and I enjoy football, running and holidays with the family.  I chose to become involved as a Governor because I like being able to use my experience to support the Head Teacher and the rest of the team to provide the best possible education for all of our pupils.

Governor

I started my career with PwC in August 2000 where I trained to be a chartered accountant. Following this I moved to another top ten accountancy firm RSM (formerly known as Baker Tilly) where I worked as a manager overseeing a team delivering internal audit, technology and risk assurance services.

I joined The Reader, a Charity based in Calderstones Park, in January 2016 as Chief Operating Officer. I am responsible for implementing and strengthening the organisational processes that will allow Shared Reading to grow and fulfil its ambition across the UK. In my role, I develop and deliver The Reader’s financial strategy, overseeing Shared Reading Delivery and Development and manage the Head Office at Calderstones, Liverpool.

I have two children at the school and one at University. I love being a Governor at the school as it is a great opportunity to get more involved with their education and make sure that the school is the best it can be for all pupils and continues to have a loving and caring environment.
