Breaking news

Foundation Stage 1 (Pre-School) provision will be offered at Carleton House from September 2009.

This provision will be available for pupils aged 3 to 4 on a Full-Time or Part-Time basis. The Part-Time provision can be taken up for full days, or just morning or afternoon sessions, or a combination of the two.

Nursery Grant funding is available up to a maximum of two and a half days per week.

Hot lunches will be provided for those pupils who attend the Foundation Stage 1 for full days.

After-Hours care for pupils in Foundation Stage 1 will be available up to 6.00 p.m., Monday to Friday during term time.

A separate charge is made for hot lunches and the After-Hours care.

What is the structure of the school?

Carleton House is divided into two departments. The Infant Department consists of three classes (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) catering for children aged four to seven. The children then progress to the Junior Department, which has four classes (Years 3-6) for seven to eleven age range . There is a teacher responsible for each class with a full-time Teaching Assistant in the Reception Class and four part-time Teaching Assistants who work throughout the school.

There are also specialist teachers in the Junior Department for Mathematics, English, Science, Music and Physical Education and Sport. Small class sizes mean pupils benefit from more individual attention - especially important when preparing for entrance exams for secondary school.
