Welcome to Carleton House, Merseyside's leading co-ed Preparatory School (Times Parent Power 2009).

We have now been in our new home on Menlove Avenue since September 2009. A year on and further exciting developments at Carleton House have taken place with the extension of Early Years Foundation Stage 1 (age 3 plus) facilities and Reception (EYFS 2), creating additional learning areas in our bright and airy lower ground space.

We are delighted that the new facilities have already generated a great deal of positive feedback from parents, staff and, most importantly of all, from our children. We are proud that Carleton House now offers gold standard Early Years provision and teaching space which will further enhance the quality of education that we can provide in the future. This new facility is an important part of Carleton's educational and business strategy and will generate additional income to fund investment in the rest of the school.

I am proud of the high academic standards that we set at Carleton House. Our pupils consistently achieve above national expectations in the SATs at Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Similarly, our Year 6 pupils continue to gain entry to a secondary school of their choice.

There is, of course, so much more to life at Carleton House than just academic success. The moral and spiritual formation of our pupils is of central importance. Our pupils raise money for charities, raising their awareness of the world around them and encouraging them to be responsible and outward looking. Sporting achievements continue in football, cross country, athletics, water polo, swimming, golf and gymnastics.

Carleton House is a Catholic school and one that welcomes children of other denominations and faiths. Around 60% of our intake is Catholic and we have strong links both with our local parish and the Archdiocese of Liverpool. Father Desmond Keegan, Our Lady of the Annunciation Bishop Eton, works in conjunction with the school to prepare children for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. We follow the Catholic RE syllabus and as part of this spend some time studying Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Sikism. We invite parents to share aspects of their faith with the pupils and organise visits to places of worship.

I invite you to come and see for yourself what our school has to offer your child. You will be most welcome.
