Why choose Carleton House Preparatory School?
Carleton House is Merseyside's leading co-ed Preparatory School (Times Parent Power 2010) and is now ranked 22nd in the top 100 of the country's leading preparatory schools. This ranking means that Carleton is also the leading co-ed prep school in the North West of England. Congratulations to pupils, staff and parents in achieving this fantastic result!
We endeavour to keep class sizes to a maximum of 22 and have a high ratio of teaching staff to pupils.
Best ever results!
Our results are outstanding. Results just released (November 2010) from entrance examinations to secondary schools in Liverpool are as follows:
Bluecoat School
Last year Carleton House achieved more passes in the Bluecoat School entrance exam than any other Liverpool primary school. This year we achieved our best ever results with all eleven pupils achieving a Group A placing which ensures that they will be offered places at Bluecoat, if it is their first preference school. The result means that all of these pupils were in the top 120 of the nearly 750 children who took the exam.
St. Hilda's School
Our pupils also achieved outstanding success in the entrance exams to St. Hilda's School. Our pupils were placed 1st, 4th, 13th, 17th 57th and 62nd out of 174 candidates with places offered to the top 19 (who put it first on their preference form).
St. Margaret's School
Our pupils achieved outstanding success in the entrance exams to St. Margaret's School. Our pupils were placed 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 11th and 31st out of 277 candidates, with places offered to the top 22 (who put it first on their preference form).
Carleton House is about more than academic success. Our approach and philosophy has been to develop the full potential of our children within a caring pastoral environment reflecting our Catholic ethos. Our ongoing academic success is a great source of pride and a tribute to the hard work of our children and the outstanding professionalism of our teaching staff.
